Wood Poles Are Different, So the Arm Is Too

Attaching a fixture bank to wood is a different mechanical problem than clamping to tapered steel. These arms carry the same five head capacity as our steel pole arms but with mounting built for timber, so the connection spreads load correctly instead of crushing or splitting the pole.
That distinction is the whole reason two versions exist. Matching the arm to the pole material is not optional.

The Rural Arena Standard

Wood pole lighting is everywhere in equestrian country: arenas, round pens, stock facilities and small fields, often using poles set by the local utility contractor. These arms let that infrastructure carry proper aimed sports lighting banks rather than a scatter of floodlights on brackets.

Wood poles age in the ground, and the load rating of a sound new pole is not the rating of one that has been wet at the ground line for twenty years. Before hanging a bank of fixtures on existing timber, the pole’s condition matters as much as its size.
