Where lighting ideas turn into real lighting solutions

PAR30 LED Lamps

Mid size reflector lamps for kitchen cans, track lighting and accent floods.

At 3.75 inches across, the PAR30 is the lamp most homes use in kitchen and living room recessed cans and in larger track heads. It throws a controlled beam with enough output to light a counter or a hallway from a standard ceiling height, and LED versions do it at a fraction of the wattage of the halogen lamps they replace.

Short Neck or Long Neck

LED PAR36 4 Watts 2700K (Residential Warm)

PAR30 lamps come in two body lengths. Short neck lamps sit deeper in the fixture, which suits shallow track heads. Long neck lamps reach further toward the trim, which keeps the lamp face flush in a deeper recessed can and prevents the beam from being clipped by the housing.

Measure how far the current lamp sits from the trim before ordering, or check the lamp that is in the fixture now.

Beam, Brightness and Color

A 40 degree flood is the common choice for general lighting from a recessed can. Narrower beams suit track lighting aimed at art or a feature wall. For kitchens, 3000K is a popular choice that keeps food and finishes looking natural.

An LED PAR30 usually draws 9 to 12 watts in place of a 75 watt halogen and puts out roughly 750 to 900 lumens. Choose a dimmable lamp for dimmer circuits, a CRI of 90 or higher for kitchens where food and finishes matter, and check the rated lifespan, commonly 25,000 hours.

Frequently Asked Questions

The long neck lamp has an extended body that positions the lamp face closer to the fixture opening. It is usually the right choice for deeper recessed cans.

PAR30 lamps are most common in 5 and 6 inch recessed cans and in medium size track heads.

Many are. Choose a lamp marked dimmable and use an LED compatible dimmer for smooth control.
