Driveway edges, walkways and building facades often get lit from a fixture buried flush with the grade, and the risk is glare in the eyes of people walking over it. The CLS IGL18B is an MR16 well light with a half-moon eyelid on a solid brass surface ring that blocks the direct view of the lamp.
When does a half-moon eyelid make sense over an open well light?
Use it anywhere people walk toward or past the fixture. The eyelid hides the lamp from direct sight and pushes light toward the wall, column or plant in front of it, instead of straight up into faces. Open well lights are better saved for spots where no one looks down at them.
How big is it, and what is the canister?
The IGL18B measures 4.88 inches tall by 4.88 inches wide. The body is a PVC canister under a solid brass ring in Antique Bronze, with silicone O-rings and a sealed lead wire entry. The fixture is IP65 rated and has a 72 inch 18 gauge SPT-1W lead.
Which MR16 lamp works best in a well?
The GU5.3 socket accepts an MR16 LED up to 8 watts or a halogen up to 50 watts, so you set the beam and color through the lamp. CLS lists clear tempered glass with a frosted version and a hex louver option.
