When a property’s lighting is split into separate zones, such as front yard, back patio and pool, the wiring inside the transformer can get crowded fast. The CLS TF300DC is a 300 watt multi-tap toroidal transformer in brushed 304 stainless steel with dual common ports and a dual switch.
What does a dual COM transformer do for me?
Two common ports give you separate landing points for multiple circuits, which keeps the terminal area organized and makes it easier to trace and service each run. CLS also lists this model with a dual switch for the circuits.
How should I divide 300 watts between zones?
Add up the connected VA on each run, keep the combined total around 240 watts for headroom, and put the longest runs on the 14 or 15 volt taps. The 12 and 13 volt taps suit short runs close to the box.
What else is inside the enclosure?
Primary side thermal protection, a secondary side magnetic circuit breaker, an internal timer socket and a photocell port. CLS lists it as compatible with WiFi smart plugs for app scheduling. The input is 120 volts AC.
