Older step lights, low path fixtures and wall lights often use a double contact bayonet socket, and a 20 watt halogen in that socket burns far more power than the job needs. The CLS LLBD1 drops that to 1 watt and 100 lumens of 2700K or 3000K light, chosen when ordering.
How do I tell this apart from the LLBS1?
Both are 1 watt, 100 lumen lamps offered in 2700K or 3000K. The difference is the base: the LLBD1 has two contacts on the bottom for double contact (BA15d) sockets, and the LLBS1 has one. Pull the old lamp and count the contacts before ordering. For more light in the same double contact socket, the LLBD3 runs at 3 watts and 270 lumens.
Is a 1 watt lamp enough for steps?
For marking treads, edges and short walks, 100 lumens at low mounting height is usually what the space wants, bright enough to see the surface without glare in the eyes. The lamp body is silicone potted over a ceramic base, rated IP54, and accepts 9 to 17 volts.
