Uplighting a medium tree, a tall column or a two story corner calls for more output than a basic accent lamp. The CLS TLL16 at 5.5 watts is a tornado style MR16 that CLS rates as the replacement for a 35 watt halogen. Specify 2700K or 3000K and a 15°, 30°, 45° or 60° beam with your order.
When does the extra watt over the 4.5W version pay off?
The TLL16 at 4.5 watts is listed against a 20 watt halogen, while this lamp is listed against a 35 watt halogen. If you are relamping fixtures that held 35 watt halogens, or the subject is taller and farther from the fixture, the 5.5 watt is the closer match. For small shrubs and close accents, the 4.5 watt is usually enough.
Will it work on an existing magnetic transformer?
CLS lists it as dimmable with most magnetic (MLV) transformers and with DC voltage dimming, and it accepts 9 to 17 volts. The body is die-cast aluminum, rated IP54, on a standard GU5.3 bi-pin base. Total the new load after relamping and keep headroom on the transformer.
