Flat Top, Dome Top and What the Shape Does

The top of a bollard is its optic. Flat tops with louvers push light down and out with strong glare control, the pick along walks where eye-level comfort matters. Dome tops spread light wider for open plazas. Square profiles read architectural, round profiles read traditional, and the light pattern follows the reflector inside more than the silhouette outside.
Spacing follows the fixture’s spread: bollards placed to alternate pools of light cover a walk gracefully, a solid row reads like an airport taxiway.

Commercial Duty Is the Point

Bollards live where people, carts, bikes and the occasional bumper reach them. Cast and extruded bodies, real gaskets and quality finishes are what let a bollard shrug that off for years. This is also why campuses and HOAs standardize on one bollard and buy it for a decade.

LED Now or Retrofit Later

Native LED bollards are the default for new work: less energy, less relamping, and instant dusk to dawn control with a photocell. Existing metal halide bollards can often be retrofitted with LED sources rather than replaced, which keeps the site’s look while ending the ballast maintenance cycle.
