Lighting Moving Water

Moving water is the target, not the surface behind it. Fixtures placed below a fall or jet light the water column itself, and the movement does the rest. Still basins take grazing light along their length, and dark pond bottoms swallow light, so features read best when the beam has water, not depth, to work on.
A little output goes far at night on water. Restraint reads elegant, excess reads like a car wash.

Sealing, Cords and Connections

The fixture is only as waterproof as its cable entry and its connections. Submersible-rated cord, proper potting and junction points made above the waterline are what keep a system alive. Everything below the surface has to be rated for continuous submersion, not just splash.
Low voltage systems dominate here for good reason, and transformer sizing follows the same rules as the rest of the landscape run.

Fountains, Ponds and Seasonal Reality

Fountain fixtures see chlorinated or treated water, pond fixtures see biology, and both see winter. Brass and stainless bodies handle water chemistry that corrodes lesser metals, and fixtures should be positioned where seasonal draining and cleaning does not mean rebuilding the system every spring.
