Where lighting ideas turn into real lighting solutions

Low Voltage Lighting Transformers

Stainless and powder coated transformers that feed 12 volt landscape systems, sized to the load and the run.

The transformer is the heart of every low voltage landscape system: it steps line voltage down to 12 volts and feeds every fixture on the property. Undersize it and the system browns out at the far end. Buy quality and it hums along outdoors for decades. Our range covers capacities from small garden systems to estate scale, multi-tap models included.

About Our Landscape Lighting Transformers

LED Spot offers transformers for above and below grade use, with a variety of wattages available. From weatherproof to timer ready, our selection of lighting transformers has the right equipment for any project.

Sizing a Transformer Correctly

Add up the connected fixture wattage, then leave headroom rather than loading the transformer to its limit. Headroom covers the fixtures you will add later, and a transformer loafing at partial load runs cooler and lasts longer than one working at its ceiling.
Larger properties often run better on two modest transformers placed near their fixture groups than one large unit far from everything, because shorter wire runs mean less voltage drop.

Multi-Tap Outputs and Voltage Drop

Long wire runs lose voltage on the way, and fixtures at the end of a long run dim visibly. Multi-tap transformers offer higher voltage taps that compensate, so the far end of the property receives what the fixtures expect.
Which tap a run belongs on comes from its length, wire gauge and load. Our free low voltage wire calculator does that math before you trench.

Enclosures, Timers and Controls

An outdoor transformer lives in weather, so stainless and heavy powder coated enclosures are what survive. Built-in timers and photocell inputs run the system automatically, dusk on, midnight or dawn off, without a switch anyone remembers.
Mount near the feed point with airflow around the enclosure, and the transformer becomes the most reliable component on the property.

Frequently Asked Questions

Total the fixture wattage on the system and leave real headroom above it. Send your fixture list and run lengths and we will size it.

One with higher voltage output taps that compensate for voltage drop on long wire runs, keeping far fixtures at full brightness.

Sometimes, but two placed near their fixture groups often beats one large unit, because shorter runs drop less voltage.

Transformers with photocell and timer control run the system dusk to dawn or dusk to a set hour, hands off.

Use our free low voltage wire calculator, or send run lengths, wire gauge and loads and we will check every run.

Photometric Design

Send us your dimensions and we will model fixture placement and light levels before you commit.
