How does the lens handle heat and impact at grade?
The lens is thickened tempered glass, chosen for impact and heat resistance where people and pets cross over the fixture and the lamp warms the glass. CLS also lists a frosted lens and hex louver version for softer, lower glare light.
How does it keep water out of a compact well?
High-grade silicone O-rings seal the lens, and a waterproof pressure-fit wire exit seals the point where the lead leaves the body. The fixture is rated IP65 and comes pre-wired with 72 inches of direct burial rated lead.
Which MR16 beam should go in it?
The GU5.3 ceramic socket accepts an MR16 LED lamp up to 8W or a halogen lamp up to 50W, so you set beam angle and color temperature with the lamp. Narrow beams suit tall trunks, and wider beams suit facades and broad shrubs.
