Well lights set in walkways and patios get looked at from every angle, and an exposed lamp can glare straight into the eyes of people walking by. The CLS IGL21B Titan uses a bi-directional grated top over an MR16 lamp to hide the source while sending light up toward the target.
What does the bi-directional grate do?
The grate shields the lamp from view while keeping the beam aimed. That reduces glare for pedestrians and makes the fixture a good fit for paths, plazas and entries where people walk right over it.
IGL21B or IGL09B for this location?
The IGL21B is the more compact of the two at 4.88 inches tall and 4.88 inches wide, and its grated top is the choice for glare control. The IGL09B is slightly larger at 5.67 by 5.5 inches with a pressure-fit glass lens. Both take the same MR16 lamps.
Which MR16 lamps will work, and how is it sealed?
The GU5.3 ceramic socket takes an MR16 LED up to 8 watts or a halogen up to 50 watts, from narrow spot to wide flood. A sealed gasket system and a composite canister protect it in damp soil, and it is rated IP65.
