Under-cap lighting on seat walls, retaining walls and stair treads looks best when the fixture disappears and only the wash of light shows. The CLS HL02A is a 7 inch long, 0.75 inch tall hardscape light in die-cast aluminum with a stainless steel mounting plate. It produces about 90 lumens at 2700K from 1.5 watts.
Can it go into a wall that is already built?
Yes. The stainless steel plate can be trimmed or bent to fit under an existing cap or tread, so the HL02A works for retrofits as well as new construction.
Should I choose the 7 inch or the 13 inch version?
The 7 inch HL02A suits short wall segments, single treads and closer spacing where you want a soft, even wash. On long stretches of wall the 13 inch HL03A covers more length per fixture, so fewer units are needed.
What power does it need?
It runs on 12 volts AC or DC, is rated IP65 against weather and irrigation, and comes with a 72 inch 18 gauge lead. CRI is 80 plus, which keeps stone and pavers looking natural.
