CLS LL165 Waterproof MR16 LED Bulb 5W

Plenty of older landscape systems still run 35 watt halogen MR16s in their uplights. The CLS LL165 is the LL16 lamp that CLS pairs with that halogen rating, producing 450 lumens on 5 watts for medium trees, entry walls and the corners of a house.

Will a 5 watt LED stand in for my 35 watt halogen?

That is the comparison CLS publishes for this part, and the load on the transformer drops by a wide margin with each swap. Lamps behave differently in different fixtures, so check one in place before converting every uplight. When you resize the system, total the new fixture wattage, leave headroom on the transformer and confirm voltage drop on the long runs.

The LL165 takes 9 to 17 volts AC and is offered in 15, 30, 45, 60 and 100 degree beams with a 2700K or 3000K color temperature, both selected when ordering.

When is the 7 watt the better pick?

Go to the LL167 when the tree is tall or the fixture sits far back, since it reaches 600 lumens. Drop to the 4 watt LL164 at 360 lumens for smaller ornamentals. A 6 watt LL166 also sits between them on its own page.

Like the rest of the series, the LL165 has a die-cast aluminum body, an IP65 rating and thermo protection.
