When a color effect has to cover a full building face, a large fountain or a monument sign, an MR16 often runs out of reach. The CLS LL3610SSC is a 10 watt solid state color PAR36 lamp in red, blue or green, with a 38 or 60 degree beam (chosen when ordering) and an IP67 die-cast aluminum body.
Is a PAR36 color lamp a better fit than an MR16 for big targets?
For large surfaces, usually yes. The PAR36 format carries more output, with about 620 lumens on green, 270 on red and 145 on blue. That compares with roughly 386, 176 and 87 from the 6 watt MR16 color lamp in the same family, so fewer fixtures are needed to cover the same wall.
What voltage range does it accept?
CLS lists 12 to 24 volts AC for this lamp, which gives room on systems with higher taps or long runs. Each color draws around 11 to 11.8 VA, so budget transformer capacity accordingly.
How should I plan around the lower blue output?
Blue is the weakest color by lumen count and also looks dimmer to the eye at night. Use blue on closer or lighter colored surfaces, and test one fixture on site before setting the full layout.
