Large shade trees and broad masonry walls need a lamp that can push light a long way, and the 13 watt CLS LL3613 delivers 1130 lumens for that kind of work. CLS compares it to an 80 watt halogen PAR36, a lamp size common in older tree lighting.
How does it compare with the 10 and 17 watt lamps?
The 10 watt LL3610 gives 800 lumens, so the LL3613 adds roughly 40 percent more light for 3 more watts. The 17 watt LL3617 reaches 1300 lumens. If a tree is big enough that 800 lumens leaves the top dark but the full 17 watt lamp would overpower nearby plantings, this is the balanced choice.
What does a 9 to 17 volt rating mean on a long run?
The LL3613 accepts anything from 9 to 17 volts AC, which gives some room when the far end of a run sits below 12 volts. That is not a reason to skip the math: total the fixture wattage, leave headroom on the transformer and check voltage drop on every long home run. Keep in mind that the 6 and 10 watt lamps in this series are rated 12 to 24 volts AC.
Which options do you choose?
Pick a 38 or 60 degree beam and a 2700K or 3000K color temperature when ordering. The housing is waterproof die-cast aluminum with an IP67 rating.
