Deck rails, larger path heads and double contact spot fixtures aimed at shrubs need real output, which is why they once carried 50 watt halogens. The CLS LLBD3 replaces that lamp with a 3 watt, 270 lumen bayonet LED on a double contact base, offered in 2700K or 3000K and chosen when ordering.
LLBD3 or one of its siblings?
This is the highest output double contact lamp in the LLB family. The LLBD1 shares its base at 1 watt and 100 lumens for softer marking light. If your socket has a single contact, use the LLBS3 for the same 3 watt, 270 lumen output or the LLBS1 at 1 watt.
Will it hold up in a buried or exposed fixture?
CLS encapsulates the LED in silicone on a ceramic base and rates it IP54, which helps where fixtures see irrigation and condensation. It runs from 9 to 17 volts, and at 3 watts it adds very little to the transformer load, so total the run and keep some headroom.
