Fixtures that originally carried a 50 watt halogen, such as deck lights, larger path heads and small spots on shrubs, need more than a token glow. The CLS LLBS3 delivers 270 lumens from 3 watts in a single contact bayonet base, in 2700K or 3000K, chosen when ordering.
When is 3 watts the better pick over the LLBS1?
Choose the LLBS3 when a single contact fixture lights a wider bed, a taller shrub or a deck area where 100 lumens from the 1 watt LLBS1 would look thin. If the socket turns out to have two contacts, the LLBD3 is the same 3 watt, 270 lumen output on a double contact base, and the LLBD1 is its 1 watt counterpart.
What does a 3 watt lamp do to the transformer load?
Swapping a 50 watt halogen for a 3 watt LED cuts the connected load on that fixture to a fraction of what it was. Total the new wattage across the run and keep headroom on the transformer. The silicone encapsulated capsule is rated IP54 and runs from 9 to 17 volts.
