Some wedge base fixtures, such as taller path lights and step lights over wide stairs, need real output rather than a marker glow. The CLS LLW3 is a 3 watt T10 wedge LED in a silicone potted capsule, rated at about 270 lumens at 2700K, which CLS compares to a 35 watt halogen wedge.
1 watt or 3 watt wedge: which does this fixture need?
Use the 3 watt LLW3 where the fixture has to light a walking surface, a wide tread or a planting bed below it. The 1 watt version suits low accent glow and marker lights. Mixing both on one property is common, as long as each fixture type gets the same lamp so the look stays consistent.
What does 3.7 VA mean for transformer sizing?
VA is the load the lamp actually places on the transformer. At 3.7 VA per lamp, add up every lamp on the run and keep headroom below the transformer rating. The LLW3 runs on 9 to 17 volts AC.
Will it survive a damp fixture?
The chip-on-board LED is encapsulated in silicone on a ceramic base and rated IP54. Light spreads 360 degrees without bright spots, and the lamp dims with most magnetic transformers.
