Accent lighting on shrubs, small ornamental trees and architectural details rarely needs a big lamp. The CLS TLL16 at 4.5 watts is a tornado style MR16 that CLS lists as the replacement for a 20 watt halogen. You choose the color temperature, 2700K or 3000K, and the beam, 15°, 30°, 45° or 60°, when ordering.
4.5 watt or 5.5 watt TLL16?
The only sibling is the TLL16 at 5.5 watts, which CLS rates against a 35 watt halogen. Both share the same body, base, color temperatures and beam options. Use the 4.5 watt where the old fixture held a 20 watt lamp or where the target is close and small. Pick the 5.5 watt when you need a bit more punch on a taller subject.
Which beam angle should I pick?
The 15° and 30° beams concentrate the light for narrow subjects such as a column, a sign post or a single trunk. The 45° and 60° beams spread it across a wider shrub or a section of wall. The lamp uses a GU5.3 bi-pin base, a die-cast aluminum body rated IP54, and runs from 9 to 17 volts.
