A front walk, an entry garden or a small backyard often needs only a handful of fixtures, and a 300 watt box would sit mostly idle. The CLS TF150 is a 150 watt toroidal transformer with 12, 13, 14 and 15 volt taps in a brushed 304 stainless steel case.
Is 150 watts enough for my small system?
Add up the VA of every lamp or integrated fixture and keep the total near 120 watts, which leaves about twenty percent headroom. With low wattage LED path lights and spots, that covers a modest layout with room for one or two additions.
When is a second small transformer better than one big one?
If two areas are far apart, such as a front entry and a back patio, a TF150 near each area shortens the cable runs and reduces voltage drop. It can also add a new zone without reworking an existing system.
What controls and protection come with it?
Primary side thermal protection, a secondary side magnetic circuit breaker, an internal timer socket and a photocell port for dusk to dawn control. CLS lists it as compatible with WiFi smart plugs. Input is 120 volts AC with a single common terminal.
