A handful of LED path lights by the front walk, a few accents in an entry bed or a small courtyard system does not need a large transformer. The CLS TF75 is a 75 watt toroidal core landscape transformer in a compact 304 stainless steel housing, with 12 and 15 volt taps and a built in mechanical timer.
Is 75 watts enough for my fixture count?
With LED lamps, a 75 watt unit can run a modest zone. Total the VA of every fixture and leave headroom instead of loading it to the limit. If the plan is likely to grow, a larger transformer saves a swap later.
When should I use the 15 volt tap?
Use 12 volts for short runs near the transformer. Move a long run, or one carrying more fixtures, to the 15 volt tap so the farthest light does not run dim. Check the drop on each run before choosing.
What protection is built in?
CLS lists primary side thermal protection and a secondary side magnetic circuit breaker, plus a resettable air breaker switch. A dedicated photocell port lets you add dusk to dawn control, and the mechanical timer allows manual override. Input is 120 volts AC.
