Uplighting a tree trunk, a stone column or a sculpture from below grade keeps the fixture out of sight and out of the path of mowers and trimmers. The CLS IGL16B Titan pairs a solid cast brass surface ring with a PVC body and takes a standard MR16 lamp, so the beam spread and color temperature come from the lamp you choose rather than the fixture.
Can I re-aim the beam after the well is set in the ground?
Yes. The internal socket tilts on more than one axis, so you can walk the beam up a trunk or across a facade without digging the body back up. The raised rim around the lens helps keep mulch, soil and leaves from collecting on the glass, which is the usual reason a well light in a planting bed slowly goes dim.
Which MR16 lamp belongs in a well this size?
The GU5.3 ceramic socket accepts an MR16 LED lamp up to 8W or a halogen lamp up to 50W. Pick a narrow beam for a tall canopy and a wider one for a broad trunk or a wall section.
If the well sits near a walk or patio, the fixture is designed to accept cowl or grated top shrouds that hide the lamp, and CLS lists a frosted lens and hex louver version for extra glare control.
