In turf, along driveways and in paving, an above-grade spotlight is a mower target and a trip hazard. The CLS IGL09B puts an MR16 lamp below grade in a PVC body with a solid brass surface ring, so trees, columns and walls get uplight while the fixture sits flush with the ground.
Why light from the ground instead of from a stake?
A well light leaves nothing to trip over or hit with equipment, and it disappears in daylight. That makes it the standard choice for lawns, paver patios and entries where a visible fixture would be in the way.
Which MR16 lamp should go in it?
The GU5.3 ceramic socket takes an MR16 LED up to 8 watts or a halogen up to 50 watts. Because the beam comes from the lamp, you can change spread or color temperature later by swapping the MR16. Clear glass is standard, and a frosted version with hex louver is offered for glare control.
What keeps water and debris out?
A high-temperature silicone O-ring and a pressure-fit tempered glass lens seal the optical chamber. A protective burial sleeve is included to guard against soil movement and roots. The fixture is rated IP65.
