Uplighting a tree in the middle of a lawn, a column at a porch or a wall behind a bed works best when the fixture sits flush and out of the way of mowers and feet. The CLS IGL17B is an in-ground well light with a solid cast brass surface ring over a PVC housing, sized at 4.88 inches and built around an MR16 socket.
Why an MR16 well light instead of an integrated one?
The standard MR16 GU5.3 socket lets you choose the beam, color temperature and output by lamp, and change them later if the tree grows or the design shifts. It takes an MR16 LED (max 8W) or halogen (max 50W), held by retaining clips in a ceramic socket.
What does the louvered cover add?
CLS offers clear or frosted tempered glass and a hex louver option. The louver cuts side glare so people walking past see the lit tree, not the bright lamp, and adds protection over the lens.
Will it survive in wet turf?
CLS seals the fixture with silicone gaskets and rates it IP65, inside a reinforced composite canister. It comes with a 72 inch lead in an Antique Bronze finish.
