When a tree, a column or a garden feature needs a bright, aimable beam, a lamp based fixture lets you change the look later just by changing the lamp. The CLS AL05B is a brass directional up light that takes a standard MR16 lamp and adjusts to point exactly where you want the light.
Why choose a lamp based up light over an integrated one?
Flexibility. With an MR16 socket you can change beam spread and color temperature by swapping lamps, and a lamp change is a quick field task rather than a fixture replacement. The GU5.3 ceramic socket has retaining clips to keep the lamp seated.
Does the AL05B hold its aim over time?
The adjustment mechanism is designed to stay aligned after repeated aiming, so a fixture you set on a night visit does not sag toward the ground a week later.
How big is it, and which lamps can it run?
It stands 6.19 inches tall and 2.2 inches wide, compact enough to tuck into a planting bed or along a landscape edge. CLS rates it for an MR16 LED lamp up to 8W or a halogen lamp up to 50W, behind a clear tempered glass lens with an IP65 rating.
