A spotlight set at ground level in a bed that has filled in ends up lighting the leaves in front of it instead of the tree or wall behind. The CLS A0524 is a 24 inch brass riser that raises the fixture above the planting so the beam reaches its target.
When does a fixture need a riser?
Use one when groundcover, ornamental grasses or shrubs stand between the fixture and what it lights, or when a path light needs extra height to clear a border planting. A riser is also a simple fix when a bed has grown since the lights went in.
Why 24 inches?
Twenty-four inches clears most low and medium plantings while keeping the fixture below eye level in many beds. Measure the planting height at maturity, not at planting time, before choosing a length.
Will it blend into the bed?
The riser is brass, 1 inch in diameter, in an antique bronze finish that matches brass fixtures and tends to disappear among stems and mulch.
