A transformer that switches on at dusk and off at dawn without anyone touching a timer is the simplest way to automate a landscape system. The CLS K4221C is an Intermatic swivel mount thermal photocontrol for 120 volt service, with a cadmium sulfide cell and a mechanical bimetal switch.
Why a swivel mount on a transformer photocell?
The swivel lets you point the eye at open sky and away from the landscape lights, a porch fixture or a streetlight. A cell that sees artificial light can cycle on and off, so aiming it well matters as much as mounting it.
What does the switching delay prevent?
A built in delay keeps the control from shutting the lights off when a car headlight or a passing flash hits the cell. The system stays on through brief light changes and only switches when daylight actually returns.
Will it fit my enclosure?
The control mounts on a 1/2 inch 14 NPSM threaded stem and comes with a washer gasket and locking nut. The housing is UV resistant plastic. CLS designs it for professional landscape transformers on 120 volt AC input.
