C7 or C9: Which Bulb Size?
C9 is the larger bulb and the one you see on rooflines, gutters and building edges, because it reads from the street. Shop C9 Christmas light strings in green or white wire. C7 is smaller and looks cleaner up close, on storefront windows, railings and mid-size trees. Shop C7 Christmas light strings in 25, 50 and 100 ft.
Because the bulbs screw into sockets, a display stays complete through the season by replacing single bulbs, not whole strings. Count the sockets on each string and order one pack of 25 bulbs for every 25 sockets.
Reels for Long Runs
Large displays are usually built from 1,000 ft spools of socket wire, cut to the length of each roofline or frame. The 1,000 ft C9 string reel comes with 800, 1,000 or 2,000 sockets, and the 1,000 ft C7 string reel with 1,000 or 2,000 sockets. Bulbs are sold separately.

LED Bulbs, Sets and Twinkly Pro
LED C7 bulbs and LED C9 bulbs come in packs of 25 in warm white, pure white, solid colors and assorted packs, in smooth transparent, smooth ceramic or faceted finishes. LED draws about 10 percent of the wattage of incandescent and runs cooler, so more lights fit on each circuit.
For trees and garland, commercial grade LED Christmas lights come in 50 and 100 count sets in warm white or multi-color. Twinkly Pro Christmas lights add app-controlled color and animation for displays that change through the season.
