Not every feature calls for an MR16. A small sculpture, a dwarf conifer or a carved stone detail can look overlit with a full size lamp. The CLS AL14B is a micro brass up light, 4.4 inches tall and 1.2 inches wide, that uses an MR8 lamp for tightly controlled, low output accents.
When is an MR8 better than an MR16?
When the target is small and close. The MR8 lamp is physically smaller and lower in wattage, so the fixture stays tiny and the light stays on the subject instead of spilling across the bed. CLS rates it for an MR8 LED lamp up to 4W or a halogen lamp up to 25W in a GU4 ceramic bi-pin socket.
Will a fixture this small hold its aim?
The mechanical aim adjusts precisely and is designed to keep its alignment after repeated repositioning, which helps when you are fine tuning a small accent scene.
Is it built for planting beds?
Yes. Solid brass construction, a clear tempered glass lens and an IP65 rating suit small beds, garden details and architectural niches.
