Stairs and deck steps need light on the tread, not in the eyes of the person walking down them. The CLS IDL02B is a flush mount step light in solid cast brass with a sealed 3W integrated LED and horizontal louvers that direct the light down onto the surface below.

Will a louvered brass faceplate cause glare on stairs?

The louvers are there to prevent it. They block a direct view of the LED and spread a soft, even wash across the tread below, which is what you want on a deck stair or a walkway wall. A clear tempered glass lens behind the louvers protects the LED while letting the light through.

Is 3W enough light for a step light?

For stair and walkway safety lighting, it usually is. Step lights are meant to define edges and treads at a low level, not flood an area. The 60 degree beam and warm 2700K color keep it comfortable next to the rest of the landscape lighting.

What voltage does the IDL02B run on?

CLS lists 12 to 24V, so it fits standard low voltage landscape systems. Add its 3W to the total for the transformer and check voltage drop on longer stair and deck runs.
