A square pole base cover boxes in the base plate and anchor bolts so the pole rises cleanly out of its concrete pier. LED Spot stocks metal covers for 4, 5 and 6 inch square poles. The 4 inch comes in an 8.75 x 8.75 x 4 inch size or an 11 x 11 x 5 inch bronze version, the 5 inch in a standard cover or an 11.5 x 11.5 x 5 inch bronze version, and the 6 inch in 4 or 6 inch heights. What Size Square Base Cover Fits Your Pole?
Three measurements and a color choice settle it.
- Pole size at the base. Measure flat to flat across the pole just above the plate and choose the 4, 5 or 6 inch cover.
- Plate and nut clearance. Measure the base plate and the height of the anchor nuts. If the plate is wide, the 11 x 11 inch (4 inch pole) or 11.5 x 11.5 inch (5 inch pole) bronze covers give more room.
- Height. Taller anchor bolts may need the 5 inch tall bronze covers or the 6 inch tall option on the 6 inch pole cover.
- Anchor-based poles only. These covers fit poles bolted through a base plate. Direct burial poles go straight into the ground and have nothing to cover. Our article on light pole base covers explains the difference.
- Color. The larger 4 and 5 inch covers are bronze only, and the 6 inch cover comes in black, bronze or white.

Square Base Covers Questions
Measure the pole flat to flat just above the base plate, then measure the plate width and the height of the anchor nuts. The cover has to clear all three, so compare them to the cover footprint and height before ordering.

The standard 4 and 5 inch covers list black, bronze, US green, white and custom. The 6 inch cover comes in black, bronze or white, and the larger 4 and 5 inch covers are bronze.
They have different footprints. One is 8.75 x 8.75 x 4 inches and the other is 11 x 11 x 5 inches in bronze. Pick the larger one when the base plate or anchor nuts will not fit under the smaller cover.
Water that runs down the pole and pools at the plate, oil and pet urine at pavement level, and knocks from carts and mowers. The cover keeps all of that off the anchor bolts and nuts and gives the pole a finished look. Steel covers are usually powder coated, which adds corrosion and UV resistance and keeps the color from fading.
